Is lynching a foreign construct?

A political war has erupted over RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remarks that lynching is a "western construct" and should not be used in the Indian context to defame the country. Soon after, many political parties have hit out against Mohan Bhagwat for his views.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on Mohan Bhagwat accusing him of having a 'Godse' mindset while CPI(M) said that the term "lynching" has no territorial-cultural connotation.
