Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah launches free bus service scheme for women under 'Shakti Yojana'

The Karnataka government on Sunday launched a free travel scheme for women on state-run buses under “Shakti Yojana”. Pink smart cards were distributed to five women during the scheme launch to symbolically kick-off the smart card distribution. Providing free bus services for women was one of the five poll promises made by Congress ahead of the Assembly elections in Karnataka.
