The Opposition parties in Kerala on Wednesday mounted pressure on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to quit after suspended IAS officer M Sivasankar was taken into ED custody, soon after a court rejected his anticipatory bail pleas in the gold smuggling case.
Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded the resignation of the chief minister. Ramesh Chennithala said, "CM is the main culprit. Four years Sivasankar was his principal secretary whatever CM said was implemented by him. So Mr Sivasankar is only a symptom, disease is Mr Pinarayi Vijayan. So he doesn't have any authority to continue in the office. So, I demand his resignation as early as possible. "
