Lalan Singh resigns as JDU chief, Nitish Kumar takes over post

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assumed the role of the new president of the Janata Dal (United) following the resignation of Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, from the position on Friday.

Nitish Kumar was elected to the party's top post during the JDU's two-day national executive meeting in Delhi. Lalan Singh, just before stepping down, nominated Kumar as the new president.
