Christian Michel, an alleged middleman in the AgustaWestland scam, used Congress party elites to put pressure on former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, reveals an August 28, 2009 letter Michel wrote to Giuseppe Orsi.
Christian Michel's letter, which India Today TV has accessed, reveals that the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was under pressure from Congress top brass. It also revealed that then Defence Minister AK Antony was in complete support of the Agusta deal.
The letter also suggests that Michel was getting information about what was going on at top levels of the government, the PMO, the defence ministry and bureaucrats months in advance. It indicates that he was aware of details of a meeting between Manmohan Singh and then-US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
