This year, no visiters will be allowed to enter Durga Puja Pandals in West Bengal in view of the coronavirus situation. The Calcutta High Court ordered that only organisers can enter the pandal and the name of the organisers should be mentioned outside the pandal. A maximum of 25 members will be allowed inside the pandal premises. Big puja pandals will need to keep 'no entry' barricades 10 metre from the pandal while smaller ones will have to place an 'no entry' board five metre from the pandal.
Advocate Sabyasachi Chatterjee, who is the petitioner of the plea seeking a curb on Durga Puja celebrations in West Bengal this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, said that the verdict is 'historical'.
