23 people lost their lives after the wall collapsed due to heavy rainfall on Sunday in two different incidents of wall collapse in Mumbai's Chembur and Vikhroli areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the deceased and Rs 50.000 for the injured.
"Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to wall collapses in Mumbai. Rs. 50,000 would be given to those injured," the PMO said. Watch the video.
