Protesters, cops clash in Manipur, mob tries to attack Biren Singh's residence

Violent protests erupted on Thursday over the kidnapping and murder of two students in Manipur as a large number of protesters tried to march towards the ancestral house of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. A police officer said the protesters, who were trying to attack CM Biren Singh's house, clashed with security personnel.

Tension has gripped Imphal Valley since Tuesday as people took to the streets over the killing of the two Meitei students as they sought swift action against the perpetrators of the crime.
