Rajya Sabha Passes G-Ram G Bill, Opposition Protests Removal of Mahatma Gandhi's Name

The Rajya Sabha has passed the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill via a voice vote, replacing the MGNREGA scheme. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan presented the bill, which faces stiff resistance from the opposition. Congress and TMC MPs staged protests, alleging the government has 'demolished 20 years of MGNREGA' and removed Mahatma Gandhi's name from the law. An unidentified speaker from the opposition stated, 'Bill is going to be very very harmful for the poorest of the poor because the original Mandreka scheme... was the backbone of the rural economy.' The new legislation reportedly alters the funding ratio to 60:40, increasing the burden on states.
