The Supreme Court has banned the NCERT's Class 8 Political Science textbook over a chapter containing references to judicial corruption. The Chief Justice ordered immediate removal of the chapter from all physical and digital platforms, directed seizure of printed copies, barred teaching from the book, and issued show-cause notices to the Centre and NCERT chiefs. The controversial chapter referred to corruption at various levels of the judiciary, warned that such corruption can weaken access to justice, stated that misconduct cases have dented public confidence, and flagged massive case backlogs.
