Sunetra Pawar takes charge as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister

Sunetra Pawar, wife of late NCP (AP) chief Ajit Pawar, was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra at a ceremony in Mumbai’s Lok Bhavan on Saturday. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Sunetra Pawar became the first woman to hold the post, earlier occupied by Ajit Pawar, who died in a plane crash in Baramati on Wednesday. The hall echoed with chants honoring Ajit Pawar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated her on X.
