Assembly Election Results 2017: PM Modi's face, Amit Shah's organizational skills helped BJP, says Amar Singh

On a day when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's re-election hopes were dealt a crushing blow by a rampant BJP, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's face and BJP president's Amit Shah's organizational skills had helped the party.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, Amar Singh slammed Akhilesh, saying youngsters should learn to respect elders. Akhilesh, of course, had been involved in a months-long feud with his father Mulayam and uncle Shivpal in the run-up to the elections, before he was granted the right to use the Samajwadi Party's 'cycle' symbol by the Election Commission.

Amar Singh said the kinds of sacrifices Mulayam and Shivpal had made for the SP were "unparalleled."
