Vijay Rupani dies in Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has died in an Air India crash in Ahmedabad. The Air India Flight 171 with 242 people on board crashed near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport shortly after taking-off on Thursday in Ahmedabad.

Air India has announced Rs 1 crore compensation for each victim's family. The US Secretary of State has expressed grief and offered assistance.
