Congress MP Manickam Tagore, who is among 13 Lok Sabha MPs who were suspended on Thursday, said that all the Opposition parliamentarians had sought was a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the security breach on Wednesday.
"We are not politicising the matter. We only want Union Home Minister Amit Shah to come forward and make a statement. We wanted the Home Minister's statement, but they suspended us," he said.
Upon being asked about the need for the Home Minister's remarks when Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had already addressed the security lapse on Wednesday, Tagore said, "We need to understand that it was an intelligence failure which is under the Home Ministry. What is the harm in asking for his statement?"
