NCP leader Ajit Pawar, in his first statement after Sharad Pawar's resignation as the party president, said a committee has been formed which will decide the party's next chief. Sharad Pawar stepped down as the NCP's president on May 2, in an announcement that shocked his supporters. Addressing the party's supporters, Ajit Pawar said the members of the said committee are "not from outside, they are from within the NCP family itself". "Don't worry, they're from the NCP family, be it myself or be it Supriya Sule," said Ajit Pawar. He added that Sharad Pawar has already declared that the committee's decision will be implemented.
