Where does India stand in the race for coronavirus vaccine?

Experts and manufacturers believe that India is very much ahead in developing a vaccine for the deadly Covid-19. However, they said challenges are also being faced by India to develop the vaccine for Covid-19 as animal trials are not allowed in the country.

"India manufactures are far ahead, compared to other countries including China. The only problem that we faced is we don't have animal model in this country. We don't do tests on animals, that is why our Indian manufacturers are lagging behind. But, in term of capability we are nothing less than Europe and US," Dr Krishna Ella, Chairman and MD of Bharat Biotech, said in an exclusive interview to India Today.
