A nine-member Criminal Investigation Department team arrived former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Kalighat residence to serve notice to Abhishek Banerjee in connection with forged signature case.
Initially, a team of around thirty CID officials was denied entry by TMC leaders because both Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee were in New Delhi. Following a prolonged discussion, the nine-member team, which included two videographers, was permitted to enter the party office at 30B Harish Chatterjee Street. A large contingent of police personnel and central forces was deployed outside the residence during the operation. The CID had previously served multiple notices to Abhishek Banerjee regarding the case, but he did not appear before the agency. The search operation took place while both leaders remained in the national capital.
