Delhi traffic advisory issued for DC vs RR IPL 2026 match today

Fans heading to the IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 17 should prepare for heavy traffic movement in central Delhi. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory for commuters, spectators, and vehicle owners ahead of the day-night match scheduled from 7 PM to 10:30 PM.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS LIKELY ON KEY ROADS

According to the advisory, traffic diversions and restrictions may be imposed from 5 PM to 12 AM on major roads around the stadium area.

• Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Marg

• Heavy and commercial vehicles will not be allowed on certain stretches including:

• Daryaganj to Delhi Gate Chowk

• Delhi Gate Chowk to Guru Nanak Chowk

COMMUTERS ADVISED TO AVOID THESE ROUTES

Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid the following roads during match hours to escape delays:

• JLN Marg (Rajghat to Delhi Gate)

• Asaf Ali Road (Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate)

• Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg (Delhi Gate to ITO)

People travelling through central Delhi during evening hours are advised to use alternate routes wherever possible.

To ensure smooth crowd movement, spectators have been assigned specific entry routes depending on their gate numbers.

SOUTH SIDE ENTRY

Gates 1 to 8

Entry via Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg

EAST SIDE ENTRY

Gates 10 to 15

Entry via JLN Marg near Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal

WEST SIDE ENTRY

Gates 16 to 18

Entry via BSZ Marg near the petrol pump

PARKING ARRANGEMENTS FOR IPL MATCH

Free parking facilities with park-and-ride services will be available at:

• Mata Sundari Road

• Rajghat Power House Road

• Velodrome Road

• The advisory clearly states that no parking will be allowed near the stadium except for labelled vehicles.

• Vehicle labels must include driver and vehicle details.

DESIGNATED PARKING FOR LABELLED VEHICLES

• P-1: JP Park (Gate No. 3)

• P-2: Vikram Nagar near Shahidi Park

• P-3: Near JJB/Prayas Office for two-wheelers

STRICT ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL PARKING

Delhi Traffic Police warned that illegally parked vehicles on BSZ Marg, JLN Marg, and Ring Road stretches near the stadium will be towed and prosecuted.

PARK-AND-RIDE FACILITY TO EASE CONGESTION

Authorities have also arranged shuttle bus services for spectators.

The park-and-ride facility will operate from:

• Mata Sundari Road

• Rajghat Power House Road

• Velodrome Road

• Shanti Van Parking

• Nearby service roads

• Bus services will begin two hours before the match and continue till one hour after the game ends.

APP-BASED TAXI PICK-UP AND DROP POINTS

Dedicated cab pick-up and drop locations have also been announced for fans using app-based taxi services.

These include:

• Gate No. 2 near Maulana Azad Medical College

• Rajghat Chowk

• Service lane on Ring Road between IP Flyover and Rajghat

Fans attending the IPL match are advised to use public transport, especially Delhi Metro, to avoid traffic congestion and parking hassles. Spectators are also encouraged to leave early and follow designated entry routes for smoother access to Arun Jaitley Stadium.
