Delhiites may face traffic diversions and movement restrictions on Tuesday, May 19, as the Delhi Traffic Police conducts a major rehearsal ahead of the International Big Cat Alliance Summit and India–Africa Forum Summit scheduled later this month at Bharat Mandapam.

The rehearsal will take place from 12 noon to 3 pm, and commuters have been advised to plan their travel carefully to avoid congestion around central Delhi and key routes leading to Pragati Maidan.

WHY TRAFFIC MOVEMENT WILL BE AFFECTED

The advisory has been issued due to security preparations for the upcoming Twin Summits that will be held between May 28 and June 1 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Heavy police deployment, route diversions, and restricted access near the venue are expected during the rehearsal period. Areas around Ring Road, Mathura Road, Tilak Marg and Pragati Maidan may witness slow traffic movement.

Commuters travelling between North and South Delhi are advised to use Ring Road via Rajghat and Sarai Kale Khan.

West to South Delhi

People travelling from West Delhi towards South Delhi can use Ring Road through Dhaula Kuan, Moti Bagh and Bikaji Cama Place.

East to South Delhi

Traffic moving from East Delhi to South Delhi should take the Sarai Kale Khan and Barapullah/Ashram Chowk corridor.

Airport route

The NH-8 Gurgaon Road route from Dhaula Kuan to the airport will remain operational.

Entry points to central Delhi

Several access points towards New Delhi may remain restricted or diverted.

Via ring road and vande mataram marg

SP Marg and Mathura Road may face closures or diversions during the rehearsal.

Connaught place access

People heading towards Connaught Place are advised to use Sikandara Road or DDU Marg through W-Point (Tilak Marg).

Rajiv chowk

Outer Circle and Connaught Place will remain accessible through Sansad Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Barakhamba Road.

Rml hospital access

Patients and emergency vehicles heading towards RML Hospital should use Sheikh Abdul Rehman Marg. Hospital traffic will get priority clearance.

Court visitors

Tilak Marg will remain open for those visiting the Supreme Court, High Court and Patiala House Court.

Delhi Traffic Police has urged commuters to use the Supreme Court Metro Station for the quickest access to Bharat Mandapam.

Map apps will show live diversions

Google Maps, MapMyIndia and other navigation apps will automatically display diversions and alternate routes during the rehearsal.
