The Supreme Court today sought the response of the Gujarat Govt and the Centre on the petitions challenging the release of the convicts in the Bilkis Bano case. Hearing is expected after two weeks.
On his penultimate working day, a three-judge bench headed by the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana on Thursday issued notices to the Gujarat Govt and the Centre to respond to the petitions challenging the remission granted to the convicts in the Bilkis Bano case.
The bench also directed that the 11 convicts who have been released be made party to the case. The hearing has been scheduled after two weeks when the Gujarat Govt and the Centre are expected to place their stand on the issue before the top court.
