Calcutta High Court orders CBI probe into Sandeshkhali sexual assault case

The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday recommended a court-monitored Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Sandeshkhali case. The high court bench also directed the CBI to file a report on the illegal conversion of agricultural land for pisciculture. Sandeshkhali village in West Bengal's 24 North Parganas district has been at the centre of a political storm after multiple women came out with allegations of systemic sexual exploitation and land grab against Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his aides.
