The Gyanvapi Masjid Committee moved the Supreme Court, seeking an urgent listing of their case after a Varanasi court ordered an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey in the disputed Gyanvapi mosque premises, except for the wazukhana (ablution area). The committee's case will be mentioned before the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Monday, July 24. The Masjid committee has sought a stay on all proceedings in the Gyanvapi mosque case which are pending before the district judge in the Varanasi court. The petition was filed by the Committee in the first week of July. However, an urgent listing is being sought in light of the recent order by District Court directing the ASI survey in Gyanvapi mosque premises.
