This European country is offering an all-expenses-paid visit to try their local food
Foodies, this one's for you. One country is offering travellers a free trip to simply come, eat, explore, and soak in the views — and honestly, the destination is stunning too.

Exploring the tastes and flavours of different cultures and regions has officially become a thing now. Snack tourism and grocery tourism are very real travel trends. And now, one country has come up with an offer that is quite a catch.
The idea? An all-expenses-paid trip to one of the world’s most scenic — and happiest — countries. All you need is an appetite, a valid visa, and, ideally someone willing to split dessert with you.
And yes, it get's better.
Free food-tasting trip
A total of 16 lucky people can win an all-expenses-paid four-day trip to Finland. Of course, there will be food tastings, but there are also several other activities planned throughout the experience.
“I tried Finnish food” is not something you hear very often. Even the Finnish tourism board describes its cuisine as the “world’s last undiscovered cuisine.” And Now, they have extended an invitation for dinner and more to the entire world for free!
How good to be true is that?
The programme is called “Have Some Finnish.” Interestingly, there are two regions for Finland’s Official Tastings:
One experience, curated by Michelin-starred chef Erik Mansikka of Kaskis, will take travellers through Finland’s coastline and scattered archipelago, offering a delicious deep dive into the country’s relationship with the sea. Along the way, guests get a taste of how coastal living has shaped Finnish food traditions, from fresh seasonal catches to hyper-local produce.
The second heads far north into the snowy landscapes of Lapland, where rising culinary talent Joel Manninen brings Arctic flavours to the table.
“At Finland’s Official Tastings, you’ll experience the flavours, traditions, sights, and sounds of the surrounding region. You’ll travel. You’ll eat. You’ll connect," the website says.
What to expect in terms of food?
Well, Finnish food does not rely a lot on spices or elaborate presentation. Its charm lies in simplicity, comfort, and seasonality. Shaped by harsh winters and short summers, Finland’s cuisine grew around preserving ingredients like berries, mushrooms, fish, and rye.
Staples such as dark ruisleipa (rye bread), creamy lohikeitto (salmon soup), and karjalanpiirakka (Karelian pies served with egg butter) reflect that wholesome style.
Up north in Lapland, dishes like poronkaristys — sauted reindeer with mashed potatoes and lingonberries — showcase the country’s regional traditions. Quietly hearty and deeply rooted in nature, Finnish food leaves a lasting impression without trying too hard.
Here’s how to get going
Since the programme is divided into two regions, applicants can choose which destination they wish to experience. And the application process is fairly simple:
Show and tell: The first step is to create a video introducing yourself and answering the question: “Why do you want to Have Some Finnish?” You have to post it on either TikTok or Instagram using their official hashtag and other required details.
Now you can apply: Next, you need to fill out the application form and attach the link of your social media video. You may apply alone or with a partner.
Deadline: Complete the social media challenge and application form by June 9, 2026, at 11:59 am Finnish time (EEST). And then you can wait for results with bated breath.
The application is currently open, and the results will be announced on their social media handles. The trip to the Coast and Archipelago will take place between August 31 and September 4 while the trip to Lapland will be held around September 7 and September 11.
