HE WHO PERMEATES

Tao Art Gallery | Mumbai | On view till May 28

The exhibition places artists Jayesh Sachdev (artwork in pic) and N.F.N. Kalyan in dialogue through paintings, sculpture and immersive installations. Curated by Mihir Thakkar, it examines mythology, pop culture and identity in today’s image-saturated world, transforming familiar symbols into layered reflections on perception, meaning and contemporary visual culture.

THE CONTEMPORARY LORE

Shailja Art Gallery | Gurugram | Till June 13

The Contemporary Lore: Sojourn of Styles and Generations Unfurled, curated by Kiran K. Mohan, brings together 23 artists across generations, including Asit Patnaik, Ashok Bhowmick (painting in pic), Bharti Prajapati, in a deliberately non-hierarchical exhibition spanning painting, sculpture and mixed media.

SILENT STORIES

Bikaner House | New Delhi | On view till May 28

Gallery Silver Scapes introduces Sri Lankan artist Shanaka Kulathunga to Indian audiences. Drawing on evocative paintings shaped by memory, rural life and everyday encounters, the exhibition explores intimacy, identity and human connection through richly layered figurative works that quietly bridge the cultural landscapes of India and Sri Lanka.

CEYLON

Jhaveri Contemporary | Mumbai | On view till May 30

CEYLON revisits the photographic practice of Lionel Wendt, whose modernist images transformed colonial-era representations of Sri Lanka. Bringing together portraits, labour studies and landscapes, the exhibition foregrounds Wendt’s lyrical exploration of the body, desire and atmosphere through gelatin silver prints that blur realism and dream, intimacy and performance.

MADHVI PAREKH: A LIFE IN LINE, MEMORY AND MYTH

The Alipore Museum | Kolkata | On view till August 2

At this DAG exhibition, nearly six decades of Madhvi Parekh’s work unfold through paintings, drawings and sketchbooks that blur folklore, domestic memory, and dreamlike imagination.
