Ranveer Singh bets big on Pralay as Don 3 buzz and Meluha rumours swirl

Amid the Don 3 din, Ranveer Singh is moving ahead with Pralay while emerging as the frontrunner for Aditya Dhar's next film. The slate looks bigger and costlier, even as writer Amish Tripathi has publicly denied any Meluha deal.

Even as conversations around Don 3 and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar continue to dominate the discourse around Ranveer Singh, the actor’s upcoming slate is beginning to tell a much bigger story.

From a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller to a large-scale action universe and an ambitious mythological rumour mill, Singh’s next few years in Bollywood appear packed with scale, experimentation and possible franchise potential.

At the centre of that line-up is Pralay, directed by Jai Mehta, a film that already sounds unlike anything currently in mainstream Hindi cinema. Add to that the growing buzz around Dhurandhar and filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s next untitled project, and Singh has firmly returned to the middle of Bollywood’s big-ticket conversation.

Here’s a closer look at the projects currently shaping Ranveer Singh’s upcoming slate:

Pralay

  • Directed by Jai Mehta
  • Genre: Post-apocalyptic zombie thriller
  • Co-stars: Kalyani Priyadarshan (reported)
  • Production: Maa Kasam Films
  • Expected to go on floors: August 2026 (tentative)
  • Reported budget: Around Rs 300 crore

Pralay is set in a collapsing Mumbai hit by both a global pandemic and a fictional zombie outbreak. The story reportedly follows a married couple trying to survive amid a city-wide lockdown. Read: survival drama with science fiction and large-scale action.

The project is particularly significant for Ranveer Singh because it marks the first production under his own banner, Maa Kasam Films. Reports suggest the actor is closely involved in the film’s creative process, including script development, storyboarding and visual effects planning.

The film also introduces a fresh on-screen pairing, with Malayalam actor Kalyani Priyadarshan set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Singh. She was last seen in the Mollywood blockbuster Lokah: Chapter 1.

According to Pinkvilla, Pralay is being mounted on a massive scale with a reported budget of around Rs 300 crore, making it one of the most expensive films of Singh’s career so far.

Aditya Dhar’s untitled next

  • Directed by Aditya Dhar
  • Status: In development
  • Expected to begin: March 2027 (as per reports)

After Dhurandhar, filmmaker Aditya Dhar is said to be developing another untitled high-concept film, with Ranveer Singh reportedly emerging as the frontrunner for the lead role.

As per Pinkvilla, the filmmaker has already cracked the core idea and is actively developing the project. A source quoted in the report said, “Aditya Dhar has cracked an idea and is currently working on it. He’s excited about the concept and is developing it actively.”

The report further stated that Singh remains the top choice because he aligns closely with Dhar’s vision for the character and the world being built around the film.

The Immortals of Meluha (speculation)

Another project that briefly entered the conversation was an adaptation of the Indian fantasy novel The Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi.

Reports had claimed that Ranveer Singh acquired the rights to the novel with Birla Studios and planned to headline a long-term cinematic franchise based on the Shiva Trilogy. According to those reports, Singh was expected to play Lord Shiva.

However, Amish Tripathi later denied the claims in an interview with Variety India. Clarifying the situation, the author said the rights to the Shiva Trilogy still remain with him and that no agreement had been signed.

“The rights for the Shiva Trilogy are with me. Nothing has been signed with anyone as yet,” Tripathi said, effectively putting the speculation to rest for now.

So, while the internet continues to obsess over Don 3, the more interesting development may actually be Ranveer Singh’s evolving slate itself.

Between Pralay and Aditya Dhar’s next big-scale idea, the actor appears to be leaning heavily into ambitious, high-concept cinema.

For now, Pralay is tentatively expected to begin production in August 2026, while Dhar’s untitled film is reportedly aiming for a March 2027 start.

On the personal front, Ranveer Singh and actor-wife Deepika Padukone are also expecting their second child together.
