Ek Din: Aamir Khan on unusual 39-day early booking strategy for Sai-Junaid's film
Aamir Khan opened up on the early advance booking strategy for Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan's romantic drama, Ek Din.

Actor-producer Aamir Khan has said the makers of Ek Din opened advance bookings 39 days before its May 1 release because the film would need more time to build traction. The romantic drama features his son Junaid Khan opposite actor Sai Pallavi. The early booking window is considered as an unusual strategy for the film.
In an interview with Just Too Filmy, Aamir said the idea was first suggested by someone on the team. He added that because the film is a relatively small project featuring fresh faces, it requires an early promotional push to build momentum.
The producer mentioned that while Junaid is at the very beginning of his career, Sai is making her Hindi film debut, making a longer lead-up essential for the film to gain traction. Describing himself as a fan of sentimental stories, he added that he has a strong personal belief in the film’s narrative.
Aamir praised director Sunil Pandey, highlighting his dedication and perseverance throughout the project. He noted that while box office performance is unpredictable, his primary measure of success is whether the film authentically brings the script to life. After watching the final cut, Aamir expressed satisfaction, saying the director had captured the heart of the story with honesty.
While acknowledging that commercial figures are a common indicator of a film's success, Aamir admitted he finds no joy in a movie performing well if he doesn’t personally connect with it. For him, artistic integrity and the ability to translate the written word to the screen remain more important than mere financial gains.
Ek Din is a romantic drama backed by Mansoor Khan, Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions.
