Director Anurag Basu reacted to a recent glimpse featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama in director Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, while praising his performance. Producer Namit Malhotra's Ramayana has become a significant topic of discussion in cinema circles, particularly for its ambitious scale and vision.

In an interview with Variety, Basu, who has previously worked with Kapoor on films such as Barfi! and Jagga Jasoos, remarked that the actor has "amazingly nailed the look." Basu commented that Ranbir's appearance met his expectations when the actor first joined the project. He emphasised the challenge of portraying a character like Lord Rama, describing it as a demanding role that requires conviction. "It was very tough, and you need a lot of courage to get into that character," he said.

Basu further noted that Ranbir's decision to take on the role was a bold move, highlighting that actors are often typecast in the industry. According to Basu, choosing such a role demonstrates both confidence and a willingness to take risks. He added that, based on what he has seen so far, the actor has convincingly delivered and expressed interest in watching the film.

The film has also attracted international attention with its responses from CinemaCon 2026. Reports suggest that a nine-minute footage was screened at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and received a positive response from a select audience, further raising expectations for the project.
