According to a PTI report, Aamir Khan mourned the loss of legendary singer Asha Bosle, calling it the "end of an era".

Javed Akhtar, in an interview with India Today, paid a moving tribute to late singer Asha Bhosle. He said that the late singer proved the dictum about "a small tree cannot grow under a big tree" wrong.

The veteran lyricist said, "Asha Bhosle came on to the scene when Lata Ji was the unquestioned queen of film songs. Most of the singers of the time who came after Lata Ji used to try to sing like Lata Ji. Here was her own sister, who found a different way. She made her own style and identity."

"She was an unparalleled singer. The singers before Lata ji had their own styles, they were big singers. But Lata Ji came with her own brand. After her the singer who developed her own brand was Asha Ji," he added.

Singer Kumar Sanu dedicated an emotional note to legendary singer Asha Bhosle, following her death on April 12. Sanu recalled collaborating with Bhosle and called it the "greatest honour" of his life.

Sanu, in his Instagram post, wrote, "Today, the music world has gone silent. My dearest Asha Tai has left us for her heavenly abode, leaving behind a void that no one can ever fill (sic)."

A video of late singer Asha Bhosle dancing to Tauba Tauba at her last stage show from 2025 has gone viral. In the resurfaced clip, Bhosle was seen performing an impromptu dance to the track from Vicky Kaushal's Bad Newz.

Bhosle performed her last major concert in Dubai, the Asha Bhosle & Sonu Nigam Legacy Concert, held on December 29, 2024, at the Coca-Cola Arena. As Tauba Tauba played on stage, the legendary singer grooved and did the dance moves from the track.

Sachin Tendulkar has mourned the death of Asha Bhosle on social media. Noting her impact across the world, the ex cricketer said, "For us, Asha Tai was family. Today, words feel too small for the loss we feel. One moment the heart falls silent, and the next, it drifts through the countless melodies she gifted all of us."

Bhosle died on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Mumbai. She was 92 years old and had been admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening.

Having already dominated film music for decades—from cabaret hits in the 60s and 70s to ghazals in the 80s—she seamlessly adapted to a changing industry. As the Indipop wave took off, with non-film albums gaining popularity and platforms like MTV India driving a new appetite for independent music, Asha didn’t fade into the background; instead, she embraced the shift and carved out a fresh space for herself in the evolving soundscape.

In 1981, director Muzaffar Ali gave Asha Bhosle a challenge unlike any she had faced before. Umrao Jaan, his adaptation of Mirza Hadi Ruswa's Urdu novel about a 19th-century Lucknow courtesan, required a voice that could carry not just classical rigour but the full weight of a particular kind of feminine suffering that was more than tragedy without redemption.

The composer Khayyam set the songs in almost architectural beauty. And Asha, who had built her reputation on fire and daring, responded with something more difficult: stillness. The compositions – Dil Cheez Kya Hai, In Aankhon Ki Masti, Justuju Jiski Thi â€“ these were not performances in the Bollywood sense. Asha Bhosle sang Umrao's tragedy not as mere melodrama but resignation, the grief of a woman who has seen too clearly and for too long.

Dutt shared a note on his Instagram stories, which read, ""Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Asha Ji. Late singer Asha Bhosle's son, Anand Bhosle has said that the legendary icon's last rites will be performed at 4 pm tomorrow at Shivaji Park.

Anand said, "My mother passed away today. People can pay their last respects to her at 11 am tomorrow at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she lived. Her last rites will be performed at 4 pm tomorrow at Shivaji Park."

Actor Kriti Sanon shared an emotional note, following legendary singer Asha Bhosle's death. She praised the late singer for her contribution to music.
