Director Sanjay Gupta says underage children are watching A-rated Obsession
Director Sanjay Gupta said he saw several underage viewers at a packed screening of A-certified film Obsession. The psychological horror thriller released in India on May 29.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has raised questions about the enforcement of age restrictions in cinemas after claiming he saw several underage children attending a screening of the A-certified Hollywood horror thriller Obsession during a recent theatre visit.
Gupta shared the observation on X, where he contrasted the turnout for two films playing at the same multiplex. While he found himself alone in a screening of a newly released Malayalam film, he said the neighbouring auditorium screening Obsession was packed with viewers, many of whom appeared to be below the age permitted for the film.
Sharing his experience, Gupta wrote, "Yesterday evening I went for a just released Malayalam film, and I was the only one in the theatre. In the next screen, my son was watching Obsession and the theatre was packed with kids, most of whom were underage. It's amazing how this film is sensation all over (sic)."

All about Obsession, the film everyone's raving about
Directed by Curry Barker, Obsession released in India on May 29 after opening in the United States on May 15. The horror thriller has generated significant buzz globally for its graphic violence, disturbing themes and adult content.
The film received an 'A' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, restricting its theatrical exhibition to audiences aged 18 and above. Reports suggest the board also ordered cuts amounting to roughly 38 seconds, including portions containing explicit violence and sexual content.
The censorship decisions have become a talking point among moviegoers, with some viewers expressing disappointment over the edited theatrical version amid speculation that an uncut version could eventually be released on digital platforms.
