Actor and entrepreneur Malaika Arora has a cheeky new way of dealing with the endless dating rumours that follow her every outing: she and son Arhaan now treat them like punchlines. The 52-year-old opened up about the constant speculation surrounding her personal life in a chat with Curly Tales, calling it "irritating" while revealing how the family has learnt to laugh it off.

Malaika on dating buzz

"It's irritating, but now I just treat it as a joke. Arhaan and I have a good laugh about these things," Malaika shared. She added that she refuses to let the chatter dictate her pace: "I can't plan these things; if it has to happen, it will happen. Right now, I am so happy exploring all of this that's going on in my life."

The latest round of buzz erupted after pictures and videos surfaced of Malaika dancing and enjoying a party with Splitsvilla X6 fame Sorab Bedi. Before that, she was linked to a "mystery man" – speculation that has become so routine, she says, that she is paired with almost anyone she is photographed with, be it a longtime friend, married colleague or even her manager.

In an earlier appearance on The Namrata Zakaria Show, Malaika noted how her family now finds the situation amusing. She pointed out that the frenzy has reached a point where innocent interactions instantly spark romantic conjecture.

'Proudly self-made and not in a rush'

As a single mother who has built a multifaceted career on her own terms, Malaika emphasised the joy of independence. "To be able to build things from scratch, and that's what is keeping me going and motivating me. Yes, of course, companionship, partner, all those things are beautiful, but I am not actively seeking it like, Oh, I need a partner," she said.

She added with quiet pride: "I am very proud of the fact that I am a self-made woman, and I don't need a man to fulfil or complete the person that I am. If I had to be with somebody, I'd do it on my own terms."

About Malaika's personal and professional front

Malaika was married to Arbaaz Khan for nearly two decades before their divorce in 2017. The couple share son Arhaan. She later dated actor Arjun Kapoor, with the relationship going public in 2018 before the two parted ways in 2024.

On the professional front, Malaika continues to captivate audiences with her signature energy. She recently lit up the screen in a special dance number for the 2025 film Thamma, grooving to the chart-topping track Poison Baby alongside Rashmika Mandanna. The song earned widespread praise for her effortless moves and infectious screen presence.

She has also featured in several music videos, including Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Chillgum. Adding yet another feather to her cap, Malaika stepped into the role of author with her wellness guide It’s Easy To Be Healthy, sharing practical tips on fitness, skincare and mindful living drawn from her own journey.
