The actor recounted the memorable moment during a podcast with Prakhar Gupta, revealing how the British singer praised the film during their meeting in Mumbai.
During a party hosted by filmmaker Farah Khan, Ed Sheeran told Huma Qureshi that he had watched and loved Anurag Kashyap's 2012 film Gangs of Wasseypur.
Huma described it as an 'ultimate flex' moment. She recalled being surprised when Sheeran mentioned the film and expressed his fondness for Indian culture, even expressing an interest in creating music in the country.
The 39-year-old actor, who played Mohsina in the film, said, "It was an ultimate flex when I met Ed Sheeran, and he had watched Gangs of Wasseypur. And I was like, what? You have watched Gangs of Wasseypur? Farah Khan had hosted a party for Ed Sheeran when he was in Mumbai, and everyone met him there. I was trying to have a conversation with him, and he was very sweet. He said, I love your country, and I would love to do music here."
She recalled that as he was being ushered away, she jokingly told him that if he wanted to pick up some colourful language, he should watch their film Gangs of Wasseypur. He paused, surprised, and asked if she was part of it.
When she confirmed, he mentioned that he had just watched the film and loved it. He even called his manager over, leaving Farah puzzled about what she had said. He then shared his appreciation, calling it a “really cool film” – a moment she described as quite surreal and special.
