Konkona Sen Sharma has unfollowed the viral satirical account Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a move that has quickly become a talking point on social media. She was among several celebrities, including Anurag Kashyap, Dia Mirza and Esha Gupta, who had followed the account, but appears to be the only celebrity so far to have unfollowed it.

CJP is a fictional, satire-driven political movement created by digital strategist Abhijeet Dipke. It gained major traction online in May 2026 after a satirical response to remarks made by Chief Justice Surya Kant, and it currently operates through two separate social media accounts.

Among those following the party's official Instagram handle are filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, actors Dia Mirza, Esha Gupta and Fatima Sana Shaikh, director Kunal Kohli and comedian Kunal Kamra. TV personalities including Umar Riaz, Uorfi Javed, Himanshi Khurana and Sheezan Khan have also joined the online chatter around the fictional political outfit.

What is CJP?

The Cockroach Janata Party recently went viral on social media after controversial remarks by the Chief Justice of India comparing young Indians on social media to “cockroaches” and “parasites” triggered widespread outrage online. Abhijeet Dipke then launched the meme-driven political satire movement.

At the time, Dipke was reportedly applying for jobs in Boston. The backlash around the remarks helped the movement gain traction quickly, attracting lakhs of followers within days. What began as an internet joke later grew into a larger commentary on unemployment, youth frustration and political discourse in the digital age.
