Priyadarshan likely to team up with Pankaj Tripathi for comedy before 100th film
Reports suggest director Priyadarshan is planning a comedy film with actor Pankaj Tripathi ahead of his 100th film with Mohanlal.

Director Priyadarshan, who recently delivered the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, is reportedly set to helm a new comedy film featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Annu Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla in lead roles. The untitled film is expected to follow the tone of his earlier comedies such as Hungama and The Shaukeens.
According to reports, the story revolves around three elderly men navigating unusual and challenging situations, continuing Priyadarshan’s signature style of situational humour. The project also marks multiple reunions for the filmmaker.
Priyadarshan will be collaborating with Pankaj Tripathi after nearly 16 years since Aakrosh. Saurabh Shukla last worked with him in Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar (2001), while Annu Kapoor reunites with the director after more than three decades, following Muskurahat (1992) and Gardish (1993). Rajpal Yadav, a frequent collaborator, is also expected to play a key role, while casting for the female lead is currently underway.
This film is planned as a quick project before Priyadarshan moves on to his 100th directorial venture, which will star Mohanlal and is scheduled to go on floors in November 2026. The script has already been finalised, and the director is planning to begin shooting in July, with a tight two-month schedule.
Meanwhile, his recent release Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, is performing steadily at the box office, collecting Rs over Rs 100 crore within five days. The response has encouraged the makers to consider a sequel and possibly expand it into a franchise, although an official announcement is still awaited.
