Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan is earning praise for her surprise appearance in Toaster, starring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra. Director Vivek Das Chaudhary revealed that the casting was made possible due to Rao and Patralekhaa’s long-standing bond with her.

In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, the director said the team always felt Farah was the perfect choice to play Nandini, a small-town orphanage owner.

“The credit goes to Rajkummar and Patralekhaa completely. They have been friends all their lives, and Farah ma’am has been very gracious enough to accept to be a small part of our film," he said.

“As soon as we saw this character, we knew that this was meant for her. She could play it bang-on! She just had to be herself! Because the character is like that. Then Rajkummar and Patralekhaa spoke to Farah ma’am, and she agreed. That’s how that happened," he added.

The director also praised Farah’s performance, saying many viewers have appreciated her role. He added that he hopes to see her take on more acting projects so audiences can see more of her on screen, and said he was glad she agreed to be part of the film.
