The Mahavatar universe is expanding. Following the success of Mahavatar Narsimha, Hombale Films and Kleem Production have announced the next instalment in the franchise – Mahavatar Parshuram.

The film marks the second chapter in the planned seven-part Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, inspired by the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. The makers unveiled the official poster and first glimpse on the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti.

Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the film will explore the story of Parshuram, believed to be Vishnu’s warrior avatar, who took on oppressive Kshatriya rulers who had strayed from the path of righteousness. The tagline – “Where Patience Ends, the Axe of Parshuram Begins!” – hints at a narrative rooted in conflict and retribution.

Backed by producers Vijay Kiragandur and Shilpaa Dhawan, the project aims to present mythological storytelling in a contemporary cinematic format. Speaking about the film, Kiragandur noted that the intention is to reconnect audiences with their cultural roots while making the story accessible to modern viewers.

The film features music by Sam CS and is slated for a theatrical release in December 2027.

Meanwhile, the first film in the universe, Mahavatar Narsimha, traces the stories of Lord Vishnu’s Varaha and Narsimha avatars, marking the first chapter in a planned seven-film series. After a strong theatrical run, the film is now streaming on Netflix.

Conceptualised and written by Ashwin Kumar, the film was made on a budget of around Rs 40 crore. It earned over Rs 325 crore at the India box office.
