Peddi trailer: Ram Charan plays sports hero, faces bigger fight beyond the field
The trailer of Peddi introduces Ram Charan as a village sports hero who stands up for his people. Also starring Janhvi Kapoor and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports action drama will hit theatres on June 4.

The makers of Peddi, the upcoming sports action drama starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, unveiled the film’s trailer in Mumbai on Monday. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film’s first full look presents Ram Charan's character as a sporting icon and a leader for his people.
The three-minute trailer introduces Charan as Peddi – a village favourite who is both a sporting icon and a natural leader. Set against a rural backdrop, the film weaves together cricket, wrestling and sprinting, placing its protagonist at the centre of each arena.
The trailer establishes Peddi’s stature early on. In a standout moment, Boman Irani asks a group of youngsters about their favourite player. Regardless of the sport, the answer is unanimous: Peddi. The line that follows – “For youngsters, he is not a deity in a temple but a deity on the playground” – neatly captures his influence.
Charan is shown in multiple physical transformations, shifting between a lean cricketer and a heavily built wrestler. His character’s confidence comes through in a striking line: “The game itself is in my arrogance,” hinting at both his skill and his defiance.
Janhvi Kapoor plays Achiyyamma, introduced in a softer, more intimate moment where Peddi calls her a “star that fell from the sky.” While she appears cheerful and warm, the trailer also suggests emotional strength, positioning her as more than just a romantic presence.

Beyond sport, the narrative expands into a larger conflict. The trailer hints at a village grappling with oppression from powerful figures, with Peddi stepping up as a protector. His battles unfold both on the field and beyond it, using sport as a form of resistance and unity.
The closing moments underline this shift. “You all think I played, but what I actually did was fight, sir,” Peddi says, reframing his journey as one of struggle rather than just sport. A few glimpses of Delhi suggest that the story may move beyond the village, widening its scope.
The film also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma and Ravi Kishan in key roles, with a special appearance by Boman Irani. Music has been composed by AR Rahman.
Peddi is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 4, with premiere shows planned a day earlier. The film will arrive in multiple languages.
