SS Rajamouli's Varanasi set for global debut at Mexico ComicCon 2026
SS Rajamouli's Varanasi will be showcased at CCXP Mexico (Comic Con Experience) with exclusive content and a team interaction. The film features Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles.

Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran and directed by SS Rajamouli, is emerging as one of the most ambitious Indian films in production. After generating global buzz with its title launch and early promotions, the team is now taking the project to an international stage, with exclusive content set to be showcased at CCXP Mexico.
The makers announced that the film will make its first global debut at the Thunder Stage on April 24, featuring a dedicated panel. The presentation will include a special “Varanasi to the World” glimpse, along with never-seen-before behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage created specifically for the event.
SS Rajamouli will address audiences through a recorded video message, while the session will also include a live interaction, offering insights into the film’s scale and vision.
Scheduled for a worldwide release on April 7, 2027, the film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. It is being planned for an IMAX experience, highlighting its emphasis on large-format storytelling.
Produced by KL Narayana under Sri Durga Arts, in association with Showing Business, the film is mounted on a reported budget of around Rs 1,200 crore, with music by MM Keeravani. The project has already drawn international attention, with its initial glimpse receiving a strong response at a trailer festival in Paris.
A synopsis that surfaced online, reportedly from Cinesite, suggests the story follows a Shiva devotee on a time-travelling quest to locate a powerful cosmic artefact. As he uncovers ancient secrets, he realises the mission is part of a larger plan driven by a mastermind seeking global domination.
Meanwhile, massive sets replicating the ghats and temples of Varanasi have been constructed, underlining the film’s scale and attention to detail. With its presence at CCXP Mexico, the project continues to expand its global reach early in its production journey.
