Diwali is round the corner but this year, the 'Festival of Lights' will be celebrated differently due to the Covid pandemic. Amid several restrictions ahead of Diwali some states and UT governments have taken a decision to put a ban on fireworks and its sale due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases and growing pollution in the air in some of the northern states. As per the reports, eight states have imposed a ban on firecrackers till now. These states are Delhi, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Chandigarh, etc. It is to be noted that on November 4, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued notices to 18 states and Union Territories that includes Assam, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, to impose a ban on the use of firecrackers during Deepavali.
