From Couture to Cabinet: Meet Agnimitra Paul

A woman police sub-inspector carried the body of a homeless man for more than a kilometre when no one came forward to help in a village on the outskirts of Andhra Pradesh. As per the reports, the police received information about the death of an unidentified person in a farmland following which sub-inspector Sirisha reached the spot along with other constables. She said that there were no injury marks on the body and the old man might have died due to starvation. The woman officer took the initiative and carried the body with the help of a local on a makeshift stretcher. He took the body of the deceased to her vehicle parked more than a kilometre away from the spot. After seeing a woman police officer carrying the body a few villagers came to help following which the body was sent for cremation.
