Rahul Gandhi's swipe at PM Modi in Lok Sabha triggers uproar, Rajnath seeks apology

During a Lok Sabha debate on the Delimitation Bill, the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi sparked an uproar by comparing the Prime Minister to a magician whose tactics have been exposed. The opposition characterises the legislation as a panic reaction to alter the electoral map under the guise of a women's quota. Concurrently, the Lucknow bench of the High Court ordered an FIR against Rahul Gandhi regarding a dual citizenship case following a petition by Vignesh Shishir. BJP president chaired strategy meetings as the opposition demanded the immediate implementation of a 33 percent women's reservation within the existing 543 seats. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram opposed increasing Lok Sabha strength to 850, arguing it unfairly impacts Tamil Nadu's representation. While the Trinamool Congress accused the government of bypassing the census to marginalise southern states, the ruling party remains confident in securing the two-thirds majority required for the constitutional amendment.
