Sudhir Mishra, known for his hard-hitting works, made a short film Life Support especially for India Today. The film gives a glimpse into the seedy underbelly of politics - of having a believable 'story' for people to fall for.
The part-satire, part-political thriller revolves around three individuals - Chief Minister DP Tiwari (Vipin Sharma), his heir apparent Ajit Chouhan (Rahul Bhat) and Tiwari's spokesperson and Chouhan's mistress Rajni Devi (Rasika Dugal). The strange web connecting the characters and the struggle of power forms the story.
The elderly, ailing politician played by Sharma bore a strong resemblance to DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) supremo Karunanidhi. However, director Sudhir Mishra said, "Take a guess. It's not about any one in particular, it's about power and its sad stories."
