Anti-CAA protests continue in several parts of India

Protests against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA) continued in several parts of the country—Kolkata, Ludhiana, Thiruvananthapuram, Delhi--on Monday.

While citizens in the national capital braved the cold wave and continued to protest at Delhi’s Shaheen Bhagh despite getting directions to end agitation, in Kolkata Trinamool Congress (TMC) president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee organised peaceful marches in several districts of the state.

The contentious citizenship law aims to expedite non-Muslim immigrants that faced religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. For more, watch this episode of News Today.
