A woman assistant sub-inspector was suspended for alleged 'delay' in taking action in the Rewari gang-rape case even as the Haryana Police carried out raids in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and some other states to nab two of the three main accused, including an Armyman, who are still absconding nearly a week after the crime.
The victim's family has alleged that police failed to take prompt action on their complaint and kept on delaying action citing jurisdictional issues between Rewari and Mahendragarh district units.
Ranjana Kumari, director of Centre for Social Research, blames Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for considering this incident as a story. The director believes that Haryana Police will work efficiently if the politicians put pressure on them.
