Nearly 700 homes and 2 hotels have been declared unsafe as Joshimath sinks, while over 80 families have been evacuated. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management team today met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to discuss rescue operations.

While Congress demanded that the land subsidence situation in Uttarakhand's Joshimath should be declared a national calamity and all developmental projects in the area halted till a report by experts and environmentalists is submitted on the issue.
