Joint US-Israel airstrikes have targeted Mehrabad airport in Tehran and Bushehr airport, where Iranian media reported a passenger aircraft was destroyed on the ground. The conflict has escalated to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy corridor handling nearly one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies. Iran declared the strait closed, warning that vessels attempting passage would be set ablaze. At least five tankers have been damaged, two crew members killed, and approximately 150 ships stranded. This blockade threatens India's energy security, as 50 percent of its crude oil, 80-85 percent of LPG, and 60 percent of LNG imports transit the waterway. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri emphasized the need for secure reserves to mitigate vulnerability to global turbulence. US President Donald Trump claimed Iran is running out of missile launchers and issued emergency orders for defense companies to accelerate weapons production. Meanwhile, China expressed support for Iranian sovereignty, and Russia offered to facilitate dialogue between the parties.
