West Asia war: Trump says Israel, Lebanon agreed to 10-day truce

US President Donald Trump has announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, inviting the Israeli Prime Minister and the Lebanese President to the White House for high-level talks. A Hezbollah lawmaker confirmed that the group was briefed on the short-term ceasefire by the Iranian ambassador to Beirut. The Israeli Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the ceasefire provides an opportunity for the Lebanese army to enforce the disarmament of Hezbollah, asserting that Israel will not evacuate its forces from southern Lebanon until security is guaranteed. Meanwhile, over a million people remain displaced in Lebanon, with some attempting to return to their devastated villages in the south. The situation remains tense as questions linger over whether the ceasefire will hold and lead to lasting peace in the region.
