Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the revised Covid-19 vaccine policy, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday called it a “dirty drive against the state government”.
The states were permitted to procure 25 per cent of the vaccines under the previous policy announced in April and implemented from May 1. The rest 25 per cent of Covid-19 would be procured by private hospitals for those who want to get inoculated there.
Mamata Banerjee took a dig at PM Modi for taking back the control of Covid-19 vaccine procurement process. “Why is PM Modi eager to take credit? It was before Bihar polls, that the government promised free vaccine... what happened after that,” asked Mamata Banerjee while addressing a press conference after a meeting with leaders of farmers’ unions protesting the Centre's farm laws.
