In light of the new coronavirus variant Omicron, the central government had issued fresh travel guidelines that require all passengers coming to India from ‘at-risk’ nations to mandatorily undergo a Covid-19 test at the airport. These revised guidelines will come into effect on December 1.
In order to implement the new guidelines, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi has increased the number of seats at its existing testing facility from 1,000 to 1,400. Sources from GMR said they are expecting a daily footfall of approximately 1,200 passengers who would need to be tested as per the new guidelines. The seats at the testing facility have been arranged to ensure proper social distancing while passengers wait to get their results.
