India Today launched an investigation into the deteriorating education system in Bihar, and discovered - in the month of April, when the evaluation of papers was still under way - that teachers of other subjects were evaluating English answer papers.
Meanwhile, there was bad news for Bihar on the education front earlier this week. 7,94,622 out of the 12,40,168 students who took the Class 12 state board exams failed.
Bihar School Examination Board Chairman Anand Kishore told India Today, "This year the pass percentage has gone down as we had put in place stringent process right from filling the examination forms till evaluation. We depended completely on technology and tried to plug any kind of loopholes. Bar coding of answer sheets was used, many other measures were taken to ensure free and fair exams."
Angry students, meanwhile, blame the drastic fall in the pass percentage on the rampant corruption in the Bihar education system.
The state of Bihar's education system is the top focus on this edition of The People's Court.
