Mumbai rains: Maximum City far from becoming a Shanghai?

The incessant rains in Mumbai have triggered a debate on the poor infrastructure of the maximum city. 

The continuous showers in the past few days have raised several questions over the lackadaisical approach of the authorities.

From people falling into manholes to building collapse leading to multiple casualties, life in Mumbai has taken a hit due to the deluge.

Mumbai's top doctor Deepak Amrapurkar fell into a manhole few metres from his residence on Monday.

Despite several efforts to rescue the doctor, he succumbed to the torrential flow. His body was recovered on Thursday from Worli. 

The doctor's death has sparked of a political slugfest with several questions being raised on the efficacy of local bodies and the state government.
